What is an NHS Health Check?

NHS health checks are available every five years to people aged between 40 and 74. The purpose of a Health Check is to check both circulatory and vascular health in order to detect potential problems before they can cause damage. These problems include type 2 Diabetes, kidney disease and heart disease.

An NHS health check consists of measuring your height and weight, asking questions surrounding your family history, checking your cholesterol/blood pressure and asking some simple lifestyle questions.

The health checks are carried out by our friendly Healthcare Assistants. If you think you may be eligible for an NHS health check, please call us on 01945 660460 or visit our reception.

We also offer access to a local health trainer service to help improve your health and provide lifestyle advice and support. If you are interested in this service please arrange an appointment in our nurse led clinic.
