Diabetes is a common life-long health condition. There are two main types of diabetes:
Monitoring your health when you have diabetes is crucial to preventing some of the complications associated with diabetes. This involves knowing your blood glucose, blood pressure and blood fat levels as well as the condition of your feet and getting your eyes screened for retinopathy.

Pre-diabetes occurs when your glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetic.
The important thing to remember is that if you have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, steps can be taken to reduce the risk of progressing to type 2 diabetes, such as a controlled diet and exercise. With the right changes your blood glucose can even return to normal levels.

Diabetic review clinics are held on a regular basis at the practice. It is important that you have a blood test prior to the appointment. You can go for a blood test at the North Cambridgeshire Hospital (you will need to take a blood form with you; contact the practice if you do not have one).
Once we have the results they will checked by your GP and a follow up plan will be arranged, we will then contact you to discuss any follow up action.
